Dog Days Are Over

If there’s one thing I’ve discovered during the past few weeks, it’s that I find it difficult to live without my laptop. Having stopped working a few weeks ago, I was worried that I had lost all my data, but luckily, having taken it into a local shop it was decided eventually that it wouldn’t be worth paying the amount of money it might require fixing it. So instead I had my hard drive transferred to a dock so (more…)

Review – District 13

Film4, 9pm Thursday Night -

I was watching District 13 (Banlieue 13) for the first time on Film4 last night,  and I have to say I was amazed by it. For those who don’t know it is set in a Paris which has become an overly large gated community in a fictional 2010, it stars David Belle the well known Parkour founder, and  Tony D’Amario as a (more…)

Time of Day

Wow…. I am finding it hard to keep up with these aren’t I… please don’t assume I have found a job though, that’s not what’s taking up my time unfortunately. I’ve just had a lot of other stuff  on my plate which has distracted me a fair bit.

Let’s recap on the last blog entry posted… ooh four weeks ago tomorrow.

I’m still at Peacocks, which is a good sign, it’s still ok, but since there’s been no luck on the job front yet, I’m thinking of asking for more training or hours to fill up my diary. I’ll say one thing though (more…)

Letting the cables sleep

Three weeks and no blog post, yikes. I guess I’m still not in the habit of creating a blog whenever something happens, I fear this post will be a torrent of thought though as I type as I think. It has been three weeks which contained a number of feelings, emotions and thoughts (or lack thereof) with seemingly a lot going on, yet at the same time, little actually happening. I’ve been working at Peacocks for almost six or seven weeks now and had my monthly review last week.

It’s a good job, with a fair few hours although the half days can get (more…)

Re-light my fire

There’s a certain sense of accomplishment I get when I manage to complete an article and send it off with the word count in tact. I can’t explain it but there is a sense of achievement to be had from finishing off a piece of work and knowing you’ve worked to get it to a standard that’s at the very least acceptable and at the best a great piece for the information you had.

I’ve written two articles over the past couple of days for (more…)

Down to the valley

I’ve been having a few off days recently, and haven’t got much on my todo list done, well not the stuff I really want to be doing, I seem to be having low energy moments and it’s getting slightly annoying. Having managed to get my car on the road, interviewed a woman from the local councils Energy Efficiency Team and a police lady. I’m in a good position really, but (more…)

Calm before the storm

So today was an overall good day, in fact this last week (seven days) has been an overall good week, I’ve managed to shorten my to-do list to three things: Exam Fees, Shorthand Practice and Thurs-meet Bonnie Fricker. The last week

So, lets go over what was still to do on last entries to-do list and play catch up.

-East Lindsey Messenger.

Having organised a phone call with (more…)

Things I’m going to do.

So, while I’m waiting for my brain to click into gear and figure out where it is and what it has to do at this moment I thought I’d write a quick entry as to what I have so far written down, with a quick explanation of each item on said list.

-East Lindsey Messenger – Email Wednesday evening if not heard anything from James Gilbert.

I’m still currently waiting for the guy who said I could write an article to get back to me as to whether he’s met up with the people I’m interviewing or not so I can get started on (more…)

This is how it goes

Not much to update you on life wise this entry, so a brief update.

First thing’s first, I have internet back on my own laptop, so that should mean a bit more activity from me on a more regular basis hopefully.

I’ve started (more…)

Application to North Devon Journal.

So as promised I finally got the rejection from North Devon Journal, the feedback I got from them wasn’t that good so I figured I’d put it to you the jury, here follows my personal statement and answers to the questions they asked.

Personal Statement

I am a friendly, communicative person who is inquisitive and (more…)
